ITINERARY: Ireland Tour 2013

Day 1: Saturday 22nd June 2013

 

Depending on your arrival flight in Dublin, you will meet with your professional driver/guide who will transfer you to Dublin city. As you will not be able to check into your hotel until mid-afternoon, we have arranged a tour of the city with visits to Trinity College Library and the Book of Kells Exhibition. After the visits there will be time for lunch and some shopping before being taken to your hotel. Dinner & a lively show at the famous Arlington Hotel will get you into an Irish mode. Day 2: Sunday 23rd June 2013

Check out of your hotel after breakfast and head to County Kildare and Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens. The stud is the only one in Ireland open to the public and the gardens are considered one of the finest of its kind in Europe. After a guided tour of the stud there will be time to visit the Horse Museum and enjoy the wonderful gardens. Continue on to Kilkenny and after touring the 12th century castle check into your hotel in time for dinner. Overnight Kilkenny DBB

Day 3: Monday 24th June 2013

Today there will be visits to local farms. This evening is free to enjoy one of the many pubs or restaurants for dinner in Kilkenny. Optional Traditional Irish Music Walking Tour – Euro 25 per person Overnight Kilkenny BB

Day 4: Tuesday 25th June 2013

In the morning you will head into neighbouring County Wexford to visit Johnstown Castle Research Centre and adjoining Irish Agricultural Museum followed by a visit to nearby Carrigbyrne Dairy Farm and Cheese Company. Overnight Kilkenny DBB

Day 5: Wednesday 26th June 2013

Check out of your hotel after breakfast and head for Kinsale with farm visits en-route. In the afternoon visit Jameson's Old Distillery and have some time in Cork city and the English Market. Overnight Kinsale DBB

Day 6: Thursday 27th June 2013

After breakfast travel to County Clare with stops en-route at Cobh Heritage Centre where many thousands of emigrants left for a better life during the Famine Years and which was the last port of call on Titanic's fatal voyage.. After checking into your hotel near Bunratty, the remainder of the evening will be free for individual dining. Overnight nearby hotel BB

Day 7: Friday 28th June 2013

This morning visit Rathlahine Farm in the nearby town of Newmarket-on-Fergus. Following a presentation & tour of the dairy farm, enjoy a light lunch. Then return to Bunratty and visit Bunratty Castle & Folk Park. Later in the evening take a short walk from your hotel to attend the renowned Bunratty Medieval Banquet & Show that is held in the great hall of the castle. Overnight Bunratty area BB

Day 8: Saturday 29th June 2013

Today is spent at the Charleville Agricultural Show. Dinner will be arranged at a restaurant/hotel on your return journey. Overnight Bunratty area BB

Day 9: Sunday 30th June 2013

Check out after breakfast and travel to one of Ireland's natural wonders, the Cliffs of Moher. Continue north along the coast into the unique landscape of The Burren and into Galway for lunch (at own expense). After lunch travel across the country to Navan stopping en-route at Clonmacnoise, an early Christian monastic site founded by St. Ciaran in 545 AD. Stay Navan DBB

Day 10: Monday 1st July 2013

Today we will visit the farm dairy of Christy Reynolds & son David and take a short drive to the megalithic tombs at Newgrange or Knowth. The tombs predate the Pyramids of Egypt and are now one of Ireland's most visited attractions. Overnight Navan DBB

Day 11: Tuesday 2nd July 2013

Check out after breakfast and start your journey back toward Dublin with visits enroute at a farm &/or farm machinery dealer. Once back in Dublin the remainder of the day will be free for individual sightseeing or shopping before your evening dinner followed by a show of traditional Irish music, song and dance. Day 12: Wednesday 3rd July 2013

Today will be a free day for further individual sightseeing or shopping. Use the Dublin Bus Hop-On, Hop-Off service which follows a circular route around the city stopping at or nearby all the main tourist attractions. You choose when & where to alight and your ticket often affords a discount on entry fees.

Day 13: Thursday 4th July 2013

After your final Irish breakfast transfer to Dublin Airport for check-in and that last minute shopping...... Dublin airport has a great Duty Free selection of shops. Head home with "the luck of the Irish" in your pocket.
