Following Breakfast, check out and meet your drivers for transfer 3 hours by road to Deloraine House in time for lunch. Pass through the stunning Rift Valley with views of Lake Naivasha and Lake Elementaita. Deloraine House was built in 1920 by Lord Francis Scott, a prominent early settler, and has to be one of the grandest examples of colonial architecture in the country with half of Kenya’s history bottled up in it! Set in the middle of the 5000 acre commercial farm at 6000 ft. on the lower slopes of Londiani Mountain, it has a forest and bamboo shrouded volcano, on the western edge of the Great Rift Valley. Hosts Tristan and Cindy Voorspuy are well known for their Offbeat riding safaris. The magnificent gardens boast a croquet lawn, tennis court and swimming pool. There are eighty horses on the farm for safaris, to ride - the farm and the mountain provide more than adequate countryside to explore.
Many British Royalty have stayed, including the Queen Mother and the Duchess of York, when a young bride. And indeed, Lord Scott's niece Alice married the Duke of Gloucester, grandson of King George V.

Arrive at Sosian Lodge in time for lunch and have the afternoon to relax before taking an early evening game drive. “Sosian”, the Samburu word for ‘Wild Date Palm’, combines the tame with the wild. The 24,000-acre private, working ranch sits on the Laikipia plateau, 80 kms west of Mt Kenya, offering pure wilderness, with more than 250 species of birdlife and an abundance of game species with four of the big five being found at Sosian Ranch, plus rare species such as Wild dogs, Jackson’s hartebeest and Grevy’s zebra.
Guests are accommodated in an elegant 1940’s farmhouse that has been beautifully renovated. The lodge sleeps a maximum of 14 people and has a swimming pool, tennis court, and organic vegetable garden.
Sosian offers a huge range of activities including walking, horse-riding, camel safaris, game-drives, night-drives, fishing, archery, tennis and swimming in the waterfalls behind the ranch house. Guests are also encouraged to participate in ranch life, such as dipping cattle. During your stay at Sosian you will spend time, in particular, with the ranch manager, who will give you a guided tour of their commercial beef herd, as well as their Boran cattle breeding herd which is fast becoming one of Kenya’s finest.
