The Beach House

You can call us “midlife crazy” but in 2008, we bought a beach house on the beautiful coastline of Brazil. It is located 17 km south of the town of Ilheus in Bahia state and is directly on the beachfront of the Atlantic Ocean. This region is very quiet and relaxing………you can walk forever along the wide sandy beach and hardly meet a soul. Or, drive to Ilheus, the chocolate capital of Brazil, for some good restaurants, shops and excitement. About 1 hour north is the surfing and resort town of Itacare.

There are 3 bedrooms (sleeps six) with a living area, full kitchen and two 3-piece bathrooms with hot water. What I like best is the wrap around verandah complete with hammocks. There is also a private pool and barbeque area with another 2-piece bathroom. The house is about 6 years old and we have redecorated completely. There’s an onsite caretaker and a security system, but this area is very safe anyway.

We are renting the house when not using it ourselves. So if you want to “do nothing” for a while before or after your Ag-Venture, why not come here? You can get all the facts about the region of Ilheus from Wikipedia. But briefly, the annual temperature ranges between 19 & 26 C, and this is a semi-arid region so rainfall is minimal. The Mata Atlantica native forest is protected in many areas, and there are about 110 km of sandy beach. Sounds great? You bet is its. Contact us for booking info and more details.
